Cabernet Sauvignon isn't considered a mainstream Hunter Valley variety despite one very notable producer. Our decision to release a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Hunter Valley is a year-by-year proposition. 2023 warranted the Reserve designation.

Planted in 1973, ‘Lochleven’ Estate, positioned on the corner of Deasys and McDonalds Roads in Pokolbin was the sole vineyard used for this wine.

Cabernet from the ‘Lochleven’ Vineyard is naturally very low cropping, helping the old vines to achieve phenological ripeness in most vintages. 2023 was a fantastic vintage across all varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon included. 100 dozen made.

A deep crimson colour showing black currants and black cherries on the nose and palate. There are nuances of spice and dark chocolate too. A lovely balanced wine with great line and length.
