2018 was the second of the three drought years (2020 excluded) in the Hunter Valley but avoided the extreme temperatures of 2017. All grapes harvested were ripe and clean, and of exceptional quality.
Situated along the Hermitage Road sand flat in Pokolbin, the ‘Braemore’ vineyard is the fruit source for the 2018 vintage release. The mature vines are dry-land grown and produced a yield of 1.5 tonnes per acre.
Still youthful in appearance but showing hints of toast, wax and lanolin aromas on the nose. The palate is flavoursome with nicely balanced acidity and incredible length of flavour.
Although beginning to drink well, this wine has all the hallmarks that are required for long term cellaring. 20+ years.
Pan grilled fish.
