Meerea Park has dabbled in Late Harvest (sweet or semi-sweet) wines over the years, as it is not a focus of the brand. Sweet wines have been made from Traminer, Viognier and now Semillon.
The 2019 vintage was an allrounder, delivering great fruit quality, both red and white. The dry vintage was a perfect opportunity to do a late harvest style of wine. Semillon lends itself to sweet wines perfectly.
The ‘Lochleven’ vineyard situated on Deasy’s Road in Pokolbin.
After harvest, the fruit made a very short journey to the winery where it was fermented in Stainless Steel. Fermentation was stopped at 11.0% alc with the balance of natural grape sugar, left as residual.
Orange blossom, lemon zest and lemon butter aromas combine on the nose. The palate is light, fresh and citrus flavoured. Mild sweetness is balanced with zesty acidity.
