"Hand-picked grapes from the Lochleven vineyard, barrel fermented and matured in French oak, have been used to make this charismatic wine. Bold and bursting with character, it opens with a pronounced oak influence that mellows as the wine aerates and the elements harmonise. Enjoy nuances of lemon soufflé, ginger spice, sugared almond, baked cream, yellow box honey, and beeswax. Despite these hedonistic flavours, the finish retains a gorgeous silkiness, lightness and energy, with a subtle hint of grapefruit pithiness on the close." Toni Paterson MW

INDIE is a label used for non mainstream or ‘out there’ varieties and blends from the Hunter Valley. Roussanne gets its name from the russet coloured berries when they are ripe.
2023 was a great all round vintage with plenty of optimal ripening weather and no notable rainfall during harvest. Ripe, clean and full flavoured grapes were put to good use, with a 100% Roussanne being possible as well as a portion being blended into Marsanne.
3 acres of Roussanne was grafted onto Semillon rootstock in the ‘Lochleven’ vineyard during 2012. 2019 was the second vintage with enough yield to make a varietal Roussanne, plus the Marsanne Roussanne blend.
An exotic nose of pear, nectarine and assorted stone-fruits, with nuances of cinnamon and dried herbs. The palate has a soft and gentle texture, but is flavoursome and has formidable length. Fine but balanced acidity keeps flavours fresh and lively.
