Although we have made small amounts of Pinot Noir from the ‘Lochleven’ Vineyard to blend with Shiraz since 2010, we started releasing a 100% Pinot Noir in good vintages since the 2015. 2018 is a fantastic Hunter vintage and this wine deserves the Reserve label.
Not as hot as 2017, vintage 2018 allowed more even and longer duration ripening of all vineyards. Luscious, bold and flavoursome red wines have resulted. A lovely vintage overall.
From the Kindred family’s, ‘Lochleven’ Estate which was planted in 1973. The vineyard is located, on the corner of Deasys and McDonalds Roads in Pokolbin.
The Pinot parcel was hand-picked and fermented in an open vat and plunged twice daily and then was matured for 16 months in 20% new French oak Hogsheads. The best three barrels were held back from the indie pinot Shiraz blend.
A bright vibrant crimson colour. Raspberry fruits dominate the strawberry undertones on both the nose and palate. The palate is medium-bodies with little or no tannin grip and an excellent length of flavour.
Medium term (up to 10 years).
Duck & lean Beef.
