Meerea Park has dabbled in Late Harvest (sweet or semi-sweet) wines over the years, as it is not a focus of the brand. Sweet wines have been made from Traminer, Viognier and now Semillon.
The fruit was sourced from the ‘Lochleven’ vineyard situated on Deasy’s Road in Pokolbin.
After harvest, the fruit made a very short journey to the winery where it was fermented in Stainless Steel. Fermentation was stopped at 11% alc with the balance of sugar, (34g/L) left as residual.
2015 was a vintage that suited white grape varieties well, and right in the zone for Semillon.
A great nose that oozes candied stone-fruits and honeydew melon aromas. The palate is plush with sweet mouth-filling ripe fruit flavours. A nice line of acidity keeps the palate fresh and lively.
