Pinot Noir has been blended with Shiraz in the Hunter Valley for decades by some of its top producers. There is now a resurgence in the blend with many labels again available.
Vineyard Notes
Shiraz and Pinot Noir, both from the Kindred family’s, ‘Lochleven’ Estate which was planted in 1973. The vineyard is located, on the corner of Deasys and McDonalds Roads in Pokolbin.
Winemaking
Not as hot as 2017, vintage 2018 allowed more even and longer duration ripening of all vineyards. Luscious, bold and flavoursome red wines have resulted. A lovely vintage overall.
Tasting Notes
A bright crimson in colour, with purple hues. Red berries dominate the nose with some blueberries and plums in a medium-bodied frame. The palate is pure and balanced, with the Pinot taking centre stage. Excellent length of flavour.
