Cabernet Sauvignon isn't considered a mainstream Hunter Valley variety despite one very notable producer. Our decision to release a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Hunter Valley was spurred on by the outstanding 2018 vintage, particularly for red wines.

Planted in 1973, ‘Lochleven’ Estate, positioned on the corner of Deasys and McDonalds Roads in Pokolbin was the sole vineyard used for this wine. The grapes were hand harvested on the 7th February.

2018, notably very early, still hot and dry, however was a bit more moderate compared to 2017. The hottest day during vintage was 41 degrees, as compared to 47 in 2017. Taking into account all of that, 2018 is the vintage to watch for Hunter red wines. Exceptional flavour and colour across the range.

Bright deep crimson in colour. Dark berries, blueberries and black currants feature on the nose and palate, the moderate oak adding mocha elements enhances the fruit. A beautiful wine with flavour, balance and length of flavour.

Long term. 20+ years.
