Our flagship Semillon made from our best 'individual vineyard' parcel of fruit we harvested for the vintage.
Alexander Munro was winemaker Rhys Eather’s great-great-grandfather and these true reserve wines are released only in years that reflect the status of the label. The best Semillon parcel harvested is selected each year to make this wine.
The cool vintage conditions of 2015 suited the Semillon grape extremely well, not allowing excess ripening, aiding natural acid retention.
Situated along the Hermitage Road sand flat in Pokolbin, the ‘Braemore’ vineyard is the fruit source for the 2015 vintage release. The mature vines are dry-land grown and produced a yield of 2.0 tonnes per acre.
Still youthful in appearance and shy on the nose. Hints of what is to come with toast, wax and lanolin aromas, as well as on the palate. Nicely balanced already with a wonderful length of flavour.
Although beginning to drinking well, this wine has all the hallmarks that are required for long term cellaring. 20+ years.
