Vineyard Notes
The old-vine ‘Casuarina’ Vineyard located on Hermitage Road in Pokolbin was again the Chardonnay vineyard source for the most recent 2018 vintage. This vineyard and has been consistently used by us since 2007 and is managed by Ken Braye.
The white wines from 2018 are very impressive to say the least. Pristine fruit from near perfect vintage weather proved the saying, ‘wine is made in the vineyard’. Chardonnay appears to have benefited the most from minimal rain in January.
Tasting Notes
Lovely Chardonnay bouquet of white peach, nectarine fruit underpinned by spicy oak aromas. The palate has generous stone-fruit, melon and fig flavours. This is a beautifully balanced wine that has a refreshing acid backbone and impressive length of flavour.
Peak Drinking / Cellaring Potential
Medium term. 6—10 years.
Food Matches
White meats such as chicken and pork.
