Semillon is traditionally the first fruit harvested in the Hunter Valley each year for still wine production. For Meerea Park, this signals the commencement of each vintage and this is our 'epoch'. Fruit Source:This premium wine is crafted from Semillon sourced from the Howard's "Somerset" vineyard in Pokolbin. Fermentation & Maturation:The handpicked fruit was cold fermented entirely in stainless steel then bottled early to capture the varietal freshness of this variety. Winemakers Comments:The 2002 vintage allowed the fruit to obtain optimum natural ripeness. This classic unoaked Hunter Valley style when young will exhibit lifted lemon and lime fruit characters. The palate is rich, but refreshing with sublime fruit and crisp acidity. With bottle age of 4 to 5 years, this wine will develop into aged Hunter Semillon, a classic of the wine world. The wine, given the right conditions will continue to be enjoyable beyond this. Cellaring:Drink now to 2012 What the experts say
"Cutting Edge - Classic Hunter Semillon, with chalky dryness, crisp flavours of lemon pith and dried peas and satisfying lightness. Up to 2012. êêêê
Max Allen - Decanter Magazine - February 2005
An aged release from a top Hunter Valley maker, this is really beautiful, semi-mature semillon with lemon, herbal aromas and the beginnings of toasty development. Hints of beeswax and lemon curd; fresh, lively and delicious. Now to five years. 95/100.
