Fruit Source: Vineyards in the Upper Hunter and Pokolbin. Fermentation & Maturation: Fruit is crushed as soon as possible and cold settled before fermenting in stainless steel tanks. No maturation is undertaken before bottling. Winemakers Comments: Many wine regions throughout Australia experienced problems in the 2007 vintage. The Hunter Valley on the other hand had excellent growing and harvest conditions free from rain and other problems producing both red and white wines of great quality. Verdelho thrives in warm dry conditions and hence has produced a fruit dominant wine with lovely tropical aromas and generous flavour. The trick was to not let the fruit become over-ripe which spoils many Verdelhos. An acid backbone keeps the wine fresh and lively and a hint of sweetness balances the acidity perfectly for a wonderful refreshing drink. Cellaring: Short term.
